Charted in 1761, the historic town of Middlebury has a population of approximately 8,200. Middlebury is located in the Champlain Valley between the Adirondack Mountains of New York State and the Green Mountains of Vermont. The Otter Creek, the longest river in Vermont, passes through the heart of Middlebury. Hiking, sailing, cycling, and swimming are favorite pastimes during the summer months with skiing and ice-skating occupying the winter season. As the home of Middlebury College, the community offers a wide range of academic and cultural opportunities.
