Watershed Science Apprenticeship for Young Women

Watershed Science Apprenticeship for Young Women

The Watershed Science Apprenticeship for Young Women, funded in part by the Vermont Women’s Fund, is open to girls grades 7-12 at Mt Abe, MUHS, and VUHS. We will take about 12-15 students in total (4 to 5 individuals from each school). It is a water quality assessment training course that spends a lot of time in the field (wetlands, streams, rivers and the lake) and helps participating girls to take on aquatic field studies of their own choosing, and ideally get school credit for their projects. Scientific and service-oriented work with state, federal, or community water monitoring groups (such as Addison County River Watch) is expected. The time frame for student involvement is September, 2016-November 2017.
