The 8th Grade Quarter 2 Dali Art Class worked in collaboration with the Addison Central Teens Center to create large scaled paintings focused on social justice issues. They are to be installed in the new Teen Center. A viewing at the center for students and parents will be held in March. The students researched a variety of social justice issue from hunger to global warming and visually communicated their views using a variety of medium, focusing on abstract expressionism techniques. The students also studied the history of graffiti and the work of modern day abstract expressionist artist Kathleen Staples.
The Teen center will be using these installation paintings as a traveling exhibit and auctioning them off at the end of this Spring Into the Arts year, where all proceeds will benefit the Addison Central Teens Center.
